Remember this old dog, the Wayback Machine?

I’ve seen mobile apps change so much over the last 7+ years, and I think it’s a shame that how apps looked and felt back then, has been lost, almost forever.

So researching “Wayback Machine for Apps” it seems to be the case that the historical look, feel and experience patterns of the apps we have been using, and are using now, will exist in the future, at the most, as screen grabs for those who choose or remember to create them.

Introducing App-Legacy.com

Today, I launched App-Legacy.com, which will deliver video recordings of apps, to preserve the legacy of the apps produced globally.

Why?

I’ve got a 9 month old daughter, and for me, the fact that currently, I won’t be able to show her what the *insert app name* App looked like back in 2016, when she’s 15, makes me sad.

How much?

I think it’s really important to do this for free, for now.

How am I doing this?

(* from title) This really is an MVP at the moment, and as such I’ll be completing all order manually, using Mac+Quicktime+Youtube. If anyone wants to come onboard to help process the queue, please let me know. :)

Scalability? Well I don’t have a scale issue currently, so I’m keeping it lean. Fiverr/Freelance/Outsource etc springs to mind if and when I need it in the short term. Automation is a lovely idea, when the concept has been proven.

Thoughts?

So what do you the digital community think of this? Let me know with a response.
